SUMMARY:Creative photography workshop “Freedom, Recorded in Light” with Audronius Žemgulis (NO PLACES LEFT)
DESCRIPTION:On Monday 16 February at 13.00, at the KCCC Art Yard (Daržų g. 10), marking\nthe Day of the Restoration of the State of Lithuania, the creative photography workshop “Freedom, Recorded in\nLight” and a photo session with the artist Audronius Žemgulis will take place: residents of the city and\nits guests will be photographed using the nineteenth-century wet collodion technique.\nThe wet collodion process is a historical photographic technology in which the image is formed on a\nglass or metal plate using light-sensitive materials and hand-crafted methods. Every portrait becomes a\nunique work of art, an unrepeatable document that helps people today to become acquainted with the historical\ntradition of photography.\nDuring the event, participants will be able to watch the whole creative process — from preparing the plate\nto the appearance of the final image. This is not only a photo session but also a living encounter with the\nnineteenth-century craft of photography, which demands patience, precision and attentiveness to light.\nThe author of the project seeks to use this historical technique as a means of bringing out the meaning of\nthe Day of the Restoration of the State. The portraits created to mark 16 February become a\nsymbolic testimony of freedom, memory and personal history.\nThe workshop is free of charge, but registration is required.
