SUMMARY:Žaneta Jasaitytė-Bessonova. Between Earth and Sky
DESCRIPTION:The exhibition presents the artist’s latest graphic works and spatial objects, establishing a direct connection with the viewer: the works can be touched, their sounds can be heard, their positions and movement trajectories can be altered – and in some cases, even their shapes can be changed. Using traditional printmaking techniques, including linocut and monotype, the artist expands the boundaries of the medium: the two-dimensional is transformed into sonic and kinetic objects that invite the viewer’s touch and enrich their sensory experience. Among the exhibited works are graphic prints, easily transformable objects, a sound installation, sculptural compositions, and more. This is an interdisciplinary journey through printmaking, objects, and installations, creating a space for an intimate yet playful dialogue. The exhibition reveals an inner state where the relationship with oneself, the environment, nature, and community is explored. Here, a slow gaze, reflection on the everyday, and tactile perception take center stage.\nWithout straying too far from her characteristic graphic expression, Žaneta covers all objects and fabrics with graphic prints, thus giving her works additional meanings and symbolic weight. The plastic shapes – like weightless three-dimensional bodies – are at times easily recognizable, and at others have nothing to do with reality, ignoring any associations. Nevertheless, all of the artist’s creations are brought together into coherent compositions that point not to the fantastical, but to real, existing, and relevant contents. This exhibition is about being between earth and sky, about balance in relationships, harmony with oneself, the ability to see different colors in everyday life and to discover unique worlds inside every person. “It’s about someone who searches, makes mistakes, gets lost, finds their way – and gets lost again. About an intimate, sometimes playful, sometimes painful, but always honest relationship with oneself. About a woman, an artist, a mother who creates out of everyday life – out of clouds and wind, out of a bird, out of a sock. About what is close,” says Žaneta Jasaitytė-Bessonova. As the artist points out, this is a reflection of the world and of each person’s inner self – something that can not only be seen but also experienced through touch and sound. It is a kind of secret pact with nature against the dullness of daily life, which we wrap in the concept of routine. The exhibition is about what is close, what happens or can happen every day, but you need to be able to see it. The artist invites us to pause, to ignore obligations and constant rush, and to look around with an open gaze. It is, first and foremost, a dialogue with oneself.\nCurator Danguolė Ruškienė\n
