“Paradigm shift from “traditional” to creative industries – the essence for sustainable regional development” is an initiative to establish an educational platform, unifying intellectual capacity of experienced cross-border partners: Kuldiga district municipality, Nida Art Colony of Vilnius Academy of Arts (higher education), Klaipeda Culture Communication Centre (Klaipeda Municipality), Liepaja Creative Industry Cluster (NGO). The project intends to tackle one of the most important cross-border challenges – the intellectual capacity of area’s labor market, which is one of the most crucial resources for regional development. Project’s objectives are implementation of an educational program for two years for 160 participants, and modernization of partners’ workrooms and studios with ICT, multimedia (Klaipeda), conference (Nida), textile (Liepaja) and 3D prototyping (Kuldiga) equipment. Participants from the fields of art, design, education, business and other will be invited to apply for trainings and workshops, while public lectures on creative thinking and exhibitions will be offered for a wider public, but the modernized studios will be available for wide range of trainings and co-working purposes in the field of creative industries.

Main project aim: project will promote Center’s operation within the field of creative industries. Organising educational activities will give an input into labor-market skill’s development for new or existing businesses and help improving the employment sector in the area.

Main benefits for KCCC:

  1. Expansion of KCCC Arts and crafts courtyard functions – synthesis of art, science and design will help to efficiently use KCCC workshop spaces: working with new technologies, acquiring new skills, availability for public use in the creative industries sector;
  2. Essential upgrading of infrastructure:
    • modern experimental design laboratory will be installed in KCCC for implementation of creative and educational projects aimed at project target groups;
    • 3D printer will be used during workshops and educational events, development of various prototypes (opportunity to produce creative ideas and give an input into product & service development for business support);
    • graphic design software: CorelDraw, Adobe InDesign, Adobe Photoshop which wil be used for both- institution’s capacity building and services for target groups;
    • acquisition of stationary and portable computers will be used for educational events, to improve IT skills for target groups.
    • update of the Exhibition Hall lobby interior – installation of interactive screen – will provide information about Klaipeda cultural field and activities of this particular project.
  3. Closer cooperation with the business, science and art institutions in the search for best content for adult-education; opportunity to provide the necessary infrastructure and workrooms; promotion of co-working among scientists, designers, businesses and researchers.
  4. Creation of a network of cooperation within creative industries and adult education area.

For this project KCCC  target groups are: Klaipeda region creative circle, university and college lectors and graduates, various fields of art professionals, start-ups/ emerging businesses mainly from arts & creative industries. Additional audience: Klaipeda city and regional community, and guests, as well as KCCC staff as visitors of educational events.
