Creative workshop “Natural Stamps and Printing Experiments” with the artist Arūnė Baronaitė
On Thursday 18 June at 18.00 and on Saturday 20 June at 13.00, the creative workshop “Natural Stamps and Printing Experiments” with the artist and biotechnologist Arūnė Baronaitė will take place at the Art Yard of the Klaipėda Culture Communication Centre (KCCC), Daržų g. 10, during which we will explore natural materials while trying to create an (un)artistic image.
This time we will not depict tree bark, leaves, parts of plants, fragments of soil and other found surfaces in art, but will let them leave their own mark. Images will emerge through contact: we will touch, press, rub, layer and observe how different textures transfer onto paper.
Some surfaces will leave clear lines, others barely visible shadows, cracks, stains or unexpected patterns. Every stamp will be distinctive, because it will depend on the material itself — on its fragility, moisture, surface and form.
In these workshops we will practise slow looking and unhurried creation. There will be no need to draw “correctly” or to have prior skills — what matters most will be to look closely, to try things out and to let the material work with you.
