Creative workshop “Textured Painting” with MENO MEKA
On Tuesday 9 June at 18.00, the creative workshop “Textured Painting” with MENO MEKA will take place in the small courtyard of the Exhibition Hall of the Klaipėda Culture Communication Centre (KCCC), Aukštoji g. 1. During the workshop we will paint pictures in a modern way, not only with paint but also with three-dimensional forms, giving them relief.
We will learn to raise relief and create textures, to combine shades and forms, and to work with texture paste, paints and tools. We will paint outdoors under the open sky, enjoying the summer weather and the old architecture of Klaipėda’s Old Town, of which there is plenty in the Exhibition Hall courtyard. Everyone will create their own unique picture and take it home after the workshop (canvas size 30 cm x 40 cm).
In textured painting the grain of the materials can be felt: various bumps, hollows, ripples or strict geometric figures are created on the surface. Special texture pastes, modelling gels, plaster, sand, acrylic paints or even household materials (fabrics, paper, pebbles) are most often used. Light and shadow falling on the raised details change the appearance of the work depending on the time of day or the angle of the lighting. The pictures become tangible, create an impression of depth and encourage the viewer to get to know art through touch.
This technique is often used to create abstract pictures for interiors and is popular as a relaxing art therapy that sets creativity free.
No experience or skills are required — we will teach you everything step by step.
