Guided tour with the artist Ernestas Žvaigždinas in the exhibition “Constellation of Seven Colours”

On Saturday 7 February at 14.00, a guided tour with the well-known Klaipėda painter Ernestas Žvaigždinas will take place in his exhibition “Constellation of Seven Colours” at the Exhibition Hall of the Klaipėda Culture Communication Centre (KCCC). During the tour you will meet the artist himself, hear the stories behind his works, learn about his painting technique, and be able to ask questions and talk with him.

In his painting, Ernestas Žvaigždinas uses the impasto technique: “Painting is done with a brush or a palette knife in oils, tempera, acrylic or gouache, in thick, textured strokes on primed canvas, cardboard, paper and sometimes wood” (Universal Lithuanian Encyclopaedia).

The artist does not shy away from a variety of colours, and his formats range from tiny diary sketches to very large paintings. His work contains many motifs of the Klaipėda region and is marked by abstraction and expressiveness.

The classic rainbow consists of seven colours, and in Ernestas Žvaigždinas’s exhibition “Constellation of Seven Colours” there is a rainbow marked by the artist’s own style of painting.

The painter was born on 13 March 1956 in Klaipėda, where he grew up and lives to this day. He attended K. Donelaitis Secondary School and studied religious studies at Klaipėda University, qualifying as a teacher. As he says himself, art and painting became his way of life. He has exhibited his work since 1991 in Lithuania and abroad.

Price: the tour is free of charge, but an exhibition ticket must be purchased at the Exhibition Hall box office (discounts apply).

The exhibition is part of a strategic project of the activities of art and culture creators’ organisations run by the Klaipėda branch of the Lithuanian Artists’ Association and the Klaipėda Gallery.

The organiser of the exhibition and project partner is the Klaipėda Culture Communication Centre.
