Opening of Ernestas Žvaigždinas’s exhibition “Constellation of Seven Colours”

On Friday 16 January at 17.30, the painter Ernestas Žvaigždinas’s exhibition “Constellation of Seven Colours” opens at the Exhibition Hall of the Klaipėda Culture Communication Centre (KCCC). Ernestas Žvaigždinas’s painting stands out for its expressive manner, its bold shaping of textures and its distinctive colouring. On his canvases, figures flutter between reality and abstraction, often drawing on motifs of the Klaipėda region. The works convey the artist’s personal outlook and stories of deep emotions and associations. The exhibition runs until 15 February.

In the exhibition “Constellation of Seven Colours”, as we have come to expect and to cherish, the artist remains faithful to his established style: the impasto stroke, the precise line, a varied palette of colours and his own subject matter.

Ernestas Žvaigždinas likes to juggle formats: his pictures may be quite tiny, like visual sketches from an immanent diary, or very large, meant to dominate a space.

The changes of format and colouring in the exhibition “Constellation of Seven Colours” are beautifully illustrated by a surprise E. Žvaigždinas has prepared: an installation of seventy abstract colour miniatures, assembled from the constellation of colours in his paintings.

The classic rainbow consists of seven colours: red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo and violet. In the spectrum they run from violet to red. Just as in Ernestas’s installation — the most varied colour codes are inscribed in small painterly miniatures which, once the exhibition is over, Ernestas intends to give to his friends and companions. One each, with his wishes for good fortune in the New Year.

The painter was born on 13 March 1956 in Klaipėda, where he grew up and lives to this day. He attended K. Donelaitis Secondary School and studied religious studies at Klaipėda University, qualifying as a teacher. As he says himself, art and painting became his way of life. He has exhibited his work since 1991 in Lithuania and abroad.

We invite you to the exhibition opening, which will take place on 16 January at 17.30 at the KCCC Exhibition Hall.
