Performative lecture “The Study of Witches”. Inga Kuznecova and Monika Klimaitė

On Friday 27 March at 17.30, the performative lecture “The Study of Witches”, performed by Inga Kuznecova and Monika Klimaitė, will take place at the Exhibition Hall of the Klaipėda Culture Communication Centre (KCCC), Didžioji Vandens g. 2.

On 24 February 2026, the director Monika Klimaitė and the choreographer Inga Kuznecova arrived in Ísafjörður, the most remote and most severe edge of Iceland. They settled surrounded by waters and mountains — in the territory of the hidden people. Led by them, they followed the traces of a witch that were not left in the snow.

The artists say: “We have a great deal of contradictory and confusing data about how a witch might look, how she ought to behave, where she might hide. The testimonies are contradictory: some say she ‘knows too much’, others that she ‘feels too much’. For some there is ‘too much’ of her body, for others ‘too little’. She is ‘too strong’, ‘too unafraid’, she ‘talks to the mountains’, she ‘can put a spell on a fisherman’.”

Having returned, they are preparing to present the results of their research at the KCCC Exhibition Hall in the form of a performative lecture: so that there is not ‘too much text’ and ‘too little action’. So that it is not ‘too boring’, ‘too conceptual’, but ‘quite interesting’, ‘somehow different’.
