Seniors’ Thursdays at the KCCC

The Klaipėda Culture Communication Centre (KCCC), led by the watercolourist Liuda Liaudanskaitė, well known in western Lithuania, organises Seniors’ Thursdays for (un)artistic seniors. On the last Thursday of each month, active seniors set off to experience culture in Klaipėda’s art institutions and beyond.

Exhibitions, events, educational sessions, meetings with well-known people, trips to neighbouring towns, conversations in cafés and warm human contact — all of this happens on Seniors’ Thursdays in Klaipėda.

The watercolourist Liuda Laudanskaitė, who started the initiative, says that when she retired she thought she would enjoy complete freedom and boundless stretches of time, but once it happened she found she missed precisely a commitment to other people, and above all company. In the end, with friends urging her on, she found herself at the KCCC administration and began bringing seniors together for shared cultural activity.

“We have been buzzing around Klaipėda’s cultural life since the autumn of 2023, without a break. Because exhibitions don’t take holidays!” says Liuda.
