WORKSHOP BY ANA DE ALMEIDA ‘DISSOLVING ARCHIVE’

In Fat History, glycerine becomes at once a preserving agent and a force of dissolution — a material that holds memory while quietly working against it. This paradox is at the heart of the installation exhibited at KKKC Exhibition Hall, and it is also where this workshop begins.

Participants are invited to create their own conceptual soaps, using pigments, aromas, and a vegan glycerine base as their medium. Like the handmade soaps in the installation, each object produced in this workshop will function as a small archive — a gesture of preservation that is, by its very nature, temporary.

To take part, participants are asked to bring small memory objects, copies of photographs and fragments (materials should fit within 7.5 × 5 × 2 cm). These will be cast into the soap, suspended in transparency, held and slowly undone by the same substance that gives them form.

The workshop asks: what do we choose to preserve, and what does that choice say about how we construct meaning? What is lost in the archiving, and what survives?

No prior artistic experience is required — only something worth keeping, and a willingness to let the material decide what happens next.

The workshop will be held in English.
