Art Summer: live music, vinyl revived and an open-air painting session
On Thursday 25 June at 18.00, Art Summer under the open sky continues in the courtyard of the Exhibition Hall of the Klaipėda Culture Communication Centre (KCCC), Aukštoji g. 1 — the musician Konstantin “Hello” Busker will perform live, Valentinas Charitonovas will play his many-coloured vinyl collection, and visitors and passers-by, inspired by the sounds of the music, will be able to paint in the heart of Klaipėda’s Old Town or simply enjoy the atmosphere.
Awaiting you are the cosy architecture of the old half-timbered building, fresh air, good company, a musical background and art. We invite everyone who wishes to enjoy the sounds of music on a pleasant summer evening, and those with a feeling for art are welcome to paint a picture. It does not matter at all whether you hold a brush often or last drew at school. Perhaps you will meet old acquaintances, perhaps you will make new ones — the format is not binding and lets you be as you wish.
The musical atmosphere at the event will be created by:
• Konstantin “Hello” Busker (Konstantin Baskajev) — founder and leader of the rock’n’blues band “Breaze” (Klaipėda). He also performs solo programmes as a “one-man orchestra”. At the event he will present his solo programme “Alone & Acoustic”, which consists of his own compositions and well-known songs from the world’s musical heritage.
• Valentinas Charitonovas is known to some as a teacher and to others as a music lover and selector. At the event he will create a cosy mood by playing vinyl records and letting the flow of improvisation take over. In his selection: from cinematic American ambient to hypnotic Norwegian shamanic jazz, from Lithuanian experimental alternative to swaying English trip hop, from intoxicating Portuguese lyricism to exuberant Karelian folklore.
The professional painter Ernestas Žvaigždinas will take part as an invited guest; he will paint alongside the participants and will be able to advise and give tips on painting.
We will take care of the basic materials for creative work, but if you have your favourite paints, brushes or a sketchbook — feel free to bring them with you.
Admission and participation are free. We begin gathering from 17.30.
Participants who wish to paint need to register. You will find the registration link here.
Please note that participants may appear in photographs and video recordings of the event published in various media.
